What People Say...

In case you are curious what people say about Wolfmont Press and Honey Locust Press, here are some comments they made about working with me.

"If you are looking for a small, efficiently run press, look no further than Wolfmont Press, owned and operated by Tony Burton. Wolfmont offers book design, e-book conversion, book trailers, and everything needed for successful promotion of a quality product.

"I enjoyed working with Tony Burton during the development and marketing of Dying in a Winter Wonderland, and I look forward to working with Wolfmont in the future."

"I have had short stories published in four Wolfmont anthologies and have found this house both easy to work with and nurturing to new talents. I have been impressed, not just with the professionalism of this publisher, but also with the integrity and sense of honor I observed. I am optimistic that I will have the privilege to work with Tony Burton and company in the future."

Austin S. Camacho, author of the Hannibal Jones mystery series

"My experience with Mr. Burton, including the late CRIME AND SUSPENSE ezine and the anthology TEN FOR TEN, has consistently been pleasant and very businesslike. He is clear, friendly, encouraging, and gracious. When the anthology came out I was very pleased with it, and with Wolfmont's handling of all aspect of the production."

Larry W. Chavis,
"Consider It Expedient," in TEN FOR TEN, Wolfmont Press, Tony Burton, Ed.

"I was fortunate to contribute stories to the 2007 and 2009 Toys for Tots anthologies. Both times, it was a great experience. I was honored to have my stories chosen and found Tony Burton of Wolfmont to be a person of great talent, energy, and integrity. He's very easy to work with and produces quality books at a reasonable price. He lays out the ground rules at the beginning and follows them precisely. He's willing to listen to ideas about creating publicity and always, always, shares the glory when a publicity idea "works." Recently I was invited to be a guest on a local radio show here in Westchester, NY, and was asked to "bring along" an invited guest who could call in with some comments about writing and publishing. Who ya gonna call? Tony Burton, of course. And was I glad I did! He proved to be a charming and knowledgeable guest."

"Having Tony Burton as the editor of the SEVEN BY SEVEN anthology was a rewarding experience.  If something was good, he said so.  If something was bad, he said so, but offered suggestions for fixing the problem.  His sense of humor made the “bitter-rewrite-pill” easier to swallow.

"I always felt he was honest in his evaluations and played no favorites with any of the seven authors.  His business dealings are extremely professional.  Money “issues” were never an issue.

"I would recommend Tony as an editor for anyone looking for professional, honest help with their writing."

Gary Hoffman
Contributing author, SEVEN BY SEVEN

"Tony Burton and Wolfmont are a class act.  Tony Burton is very talented as a(n):

"1. Designer.  Mr. Burton designed the anthology Seven By Seven from scratch.  The cover, chapter headings and pictures sprinkled throughout present a package that is very palatable, even pleasing, to the eye.  Anyone who picks it up is going to be even more interested, based on the visual appeal.

"2. Editor.  Mr. Burton's editing credentials are available at the publisher's site.  In editing my work, he found the right balance between requesting/suggesting changes to a piece in order to make it tighter, while not invading upon the author's voice or attempting to somehow change the story the author is trying to tell into one he'd rather hear...the last two being, I think, a recipe for disaster for the author.  Instead, he made reasonable requests, accepted reasonable replies and used his own editing talents to hone the story I was telling, leaving my voice intact.   On a side-note, I had some problems coming up with a title for one story and asked if he'd give it some thought.  He came up with a great title that captured the subject matter and the particular twist of the story.

"3. Publisher/Businessman:  Mr. Burton has familiarized himself with the technical aspects of publishing, to include the physical process of bookmaking, the financial ins and outs and the marketing.  Anyone can do that, you say?  Well, not anyone, but many could.  The difference with Mr. Burton is that he brings that knowledge and skill to the table in the form of a direct and honest man.  Every time I have asked a question, he has had a simple, direct answer.  I do not mean to imply rudeness, as he is every bit a gentleman, but he does not hesitate to lay facts out as they are.  Whether that be financial realities or contractual concerns or editing issues or whatever else comes up, you can expect a timely, truthful and accurate answer from Tony Burton.  When you combine that integrity with business savvy specific to publishing, I believe the combination is a rare gem.

"As an addendum to #3, let me be clear that Mr. Burton is not authoritarian.  Quite the contrary, in that he works very hard to create a partnership with the author.  He asks for input regarding most every aspect of the publishing experience, which is a satisfying and educational experience for the author.

"Please consider this a ringing endorsement for Tony Burton and Wolfmont."

"My experience with Tony Burton and Wolfmont was positive in every way.  As one of seven authors selected to contribute to the anthology Seven by Seven, I saw firsthand the expertise and devotion Tony puts into a project.  His talent as an editor is the main reason this book has been successful.  In working with a diverse group of authors he was as quick to offer praise as to offer criticism, and all of us involved in the effort were impressed on a daily basis by his knowledge and competence.

"Tony's combination of business sense and writing knowhow makes him an excellent choice for anyone looking for an editor/publisher.  I highly recommend him."

John M. Floyd

Contributing author, SEVEN BY SEVEN

"The day I met Tony Burton at a local community celebration literally changed my life. After talking with him I knew there was no need to go any further to find a publisher for my book. His attitude, demeanor, intelligence, and knowledge of the publishing industry impressed me very deeply. We meet many people in our walk through life. Some we acknowledge with a nod and never see them again. Others linger with us for awhile and then move on. A few, however, enter our lives and our hearts and stay forever. Tony Burton is one of these few. If you are looking for a publisher for your book, then go no further. With Tony, you get two for the price of one; a publisher and a friend for life."
